The National Center for Aerospace Education of the Youth of Ukraine (the Center) was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 410/96 of June 11, 1996 at the initiative of the National Space Agency of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Youth Aerospace Association «Suzirya» with the support of the State Enterprise «Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building plant named after A.M. Makarov» (YUZHMASH) and State Design Bureau «Yuzhnoe» named after M.K. Yangel.
In 2006, by order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 482-r dated September 11, 2006, the Center was named after its founder O.M. Makarov, an outstanding person who did a lot for the rocket and space industry.
The main strategic directions of the Center are:
- practical implementation of the state youth policy in the field of aerospace education;
- creation of favorable conditions for intellectual development
young generation;
- search and comprehensive support of talented youth;
- formation of scientific and technical elite of Ukraine;
The task of the Center is to develop the younger generation's interest in research activities in the field of cosmonautics, space technology, space physics, and other areas of science and technology.
Who knows, maybe future scientists, engineers and practitioners are studying here at the Center today, who in the near future will take the construction of space technology to a new level, and make the dream of long-distance flights and space tourism not a fantasy, but a reality.
