Science-intensive technologies for the rocket and space industry

This section presents the main activities of the O.M. Makarov NYAEC Research Department in the field of rocket and space technology.

For more detailed information on specific technical and organizational issues, please call: +38(050) 361-32-10, +38(067) 606-01-78 (Head of the Department Pavlo Zheltov).

Technologies and equipment for the production of components and assemblies for airborne components made of polymeric composite materials:

  • Development of design and technological solutions for the manufacture of rocket and space technology products from composite materials by the winding method.
  • Development of methods and a software package for preparing control programs for winding complex products made of composite materials that implement selected winding schemes.
  • Design of special technological equipment and tooling.
  • Technology for manufacturing internal heat-protective coatings for the bodies of the RTBs.
  • Development of equipment and tooling for manufacturing products from carbon-carbon composite materials.

Methods and means of non-destructive testing:

  • Non-contact automated quality control of products made of composite materials, including three-layer construction with honeycomb aggregate.
  • Non-contact automated control of heat protection coatings.
  • Non-contact automated inspection of large aluminium plates.

Environmentally friendly energy-saving technologies for applying electrochemical coatings:

  • Conducting a set of research works to improve the technology for applying heat-resistant electrochemical nickel-chromium coatings to combustion chambers in the critical section area.
  • Development of environmentally friendly energy-saving technologies and equipment for galvanic production facilities for the application of zinc, nickel, chrome and other coatings.

Technology and equipment for mechanised jet cleaning of fuel tanks and pipelines:

  • Development of the technology for jet cleaning of pneumatic hydraulic system cavities by cyclic hydrodynamic treatment of internal surfaces with compact liquid jets using washing heads that move or are fixed in the volumes to be cleaned.
  • Development of special washing heads, which, depending on the design features of the tanks (overall dimensions, configuration of internal devices, location of manhole hatches and drainage pipes), ensure cleaning of the tank from mechanical and grease contamination, as well as development of the necessary positioning devices for washing heads.

Methods and equipment for liquid-free measurement of internal cavity volumes of rocket and space technology components:

  • Development of equipment and techniques for measuring volumes by the gas method, the essence of which is to transfer gas from a reference vessel to the measured one with measurement of the initial and final gas parameters and subsequent analytical calculation of the required volume using formulas that establish a relationship between pressure, temperature in a closed system and its volume.

Development of scientific and technical reports and methodological materials:

  • Technological support for the creation of rocket and space technology products.
  • Adhesive assembly of nozzle blocks of the RDTP.
  • Industrial production of parts of nozzle blocks of the RDTP from composite materials.
  • Experience in the use of materials in rocket and space technology products with liquid propellant.
  • Materials and technologies for the production of heat shielding coatings for warheads.

Our achievement

Aerospace education is a systematic form of education and upbringing of children and young people in order to transfer to them knowledge about aviation and cosmonautics, training of specialists for the aerospace industry, informing the population about the results of space activities in Ukraine.
