All-Ukrainian Children's Drawing Contest «Step to the Stars»

Children are the most imaginative people. In their drawings, they are not limited in their creative abilities, and they do not have to be pragmatic and rational.

The Step to the Stars children's drawing competition is held in conjunction with the city's methodological centre and is dedicated to the Day of Cosmonautics. It is open to students from secondary schools, art studios and clubs of municipal cultural institutions.

The children's entries reflect real or fictional events, space phenomena, fantasies about interplanetary flights, extraterrestrial civilisations, unknown planets, rocket and space technology of the past, present and future.

CONTEST TOPICS

Entries are to be made on space topics. The works may reflect real or fictional events, space phenomena, children's fantasies about interplanetary flights, extraterrestrial civilisations, unexplored planets, etc.

CONTEST PARTICIPANTS

The contest is open to students of secondary schools and art studios.

The contest is held in the following age groups:

•  junior group - from 5 to 8 years old inclusive;
•  middle group - from 9 to 12 years old inclusive;
•  senior group - from 13 to 16 years old inclusive.

Requirements for the design of the competition work

Each participant submits no more than two works to the competition. The works must be made independently by one author. Copies of illustrations and reproductions of famous artists are not considered. Drawings should be made on A-3 to A-1 size Watman paper, works can be made using any technique and framed. Folding and bending of works is not allowed.

Each entry must have a label with the following information:

• title of the work;
• surname, name of the author;
• age of the participant;
• city, name of the organisation (secondary school or art studio).

An application for participation in the contest must be submitted with the work.

Criteria for evaluating the drawing

When evaluating the works of the competition, the jury is guided by the following criteria:

• originality, imagery and completeness in the disclosure of the topic;
• creative approach to the work, developed artistic imagination;
• quality of work and artistic value of the works.

The winners of the competition are awarded with diplomas, certificates and gifts from the О.M. Makarov NYAEC and the competition partners.
