Round Table: «Outstanding Figures of the Faculty of Physics and Technology!»

Our society and state need more people like this

It has become a tradition to hold round tables as part of the International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Human and Space’.

Thus, on 24 April 2026, the round table ‘Outstanding Figures of the Faculty of Physics and Technology!’ took place as part of the Conference.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology at Dnipro National University was founded in 1951 with the direct involvement of Vasyl Serhiyovych Budnyk, with the aim of training specialists for enterprises in the rocket and space industry, mechanical engineering and energy.

Over the years of the Faculty of Physics and Technology’s existence, around 30,000 specialists have graduated from it, including talented designers, managers, engineers, scientists, and distinguished workers of industry and science in Ukraine.

Graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Technology work in various sectors of industry, but the majority are employed in the rocket industry, where they put to use the in-depth knowledge they acquired at their alma mater.

Graduates from various years, lecturers and distinguished guests were invited to the event.

Eduard Ivanovich Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Public Council at the State Space Agency of Ukraine and First Vice-President of the Aerospace Society of Ukraine, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. Eduard Ivanovich congratulated the graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the lecturers and all those present on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Physics and Technology and wished them continued prosperity; he also presented a newly published book, ‘Directors General of the State Space Agency of Ukraine – Founders of Ukraine’s Rocket and Space Industry’ (about graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, authored by Kuznetsov E.I. himself). On behalf of the Aerospace Society of Ukraine, he awarded the Faculty of Physics and Technology the ‘Star of Cosmonaut Kadenyuk’ badge – for active work in promoting knowledge of space activities in Ukraine.

The graduates recalled their student days with warmth in their hearts: the camaraderie of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the demanding lecturers, the dance evenings, the reclamation of virgin lands, and the trips to the collective farms. Their eyes lit up with the sparkle of youth, the years since graduation were wiped from their faces, and they were transformed once more into students – romantics and dreamers.

A huge thank you to the teaching staff of the Faculty of Physics and Technology. It was they who trained a whole generation of young scientists and specialists, sending them out into independent life as well-prepared professionals who went on to lead various fields of science and technology and have worked and continue to work successfully in enterprises within the rocket and space industry, mechanical engineering and other sectors of industry.

Creative (authoring) teams from the ‘Pivdenne’ Design Bureau, Pivdenmash, the Faculty of Physics and Technology, and close associates have published books about graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Technology who dedicated their lives to the development of rocket and space technology and the science behind it.

Physicists from various graduating years serve as an example to today’s students of perseverance in acquiring knowledge, responsibility, curiosity and a passion for their specialism.

Physicists are always first – in scientific work and in education.

Our achievement

Aerospace education is a systematic form of education and upbringing of children and young people in order to transfer to them knowledge about aviation and cosmonautics, training of specialists for the aerospace industry, informing the population about the results of space activities in Ukraine.
