THE RESULTS OF THE 11TH ALL-UKRAINIAN CREATIVE WORKS COMPETITION ‘LITERARY UNIVERSE’ HAVE BEEN SUMMARISED
The 11th All-Ukrainian Creative Works Competition ‘Literary Universe’ took place between October 2025 and February 2026.
The main goal of the educational and cognitive events of the NYAEC is the comprehensive development of young people, the development of talent, creative and intellectual abilities. The competition received 390 entries from participants from different regions of Ukraine: Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Lviv, Odesa, Sumy, Ternopil, and Zakarpattia. works from participants from various regions of Ukraine: Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, and one participant from the Czech Republic.
The jury faced a difficult task – to select from a large number of creative works those that fully meet the conditions of the competition and the stated theme, as well as stand out in terms of knowledge and originality.
With the advent of artificial intelligence in the educational and scientific community, disputes over its use continue to rage. After all, despite the fact that this latest tool can significantly facilitate and accelerate the work of students and participants in educational events, its use still has many drawbacks.
One of them is an ethical question: who should be considered the author of a creative work in cases where the text is written with the help of AI, and how should such works be evaluated?
This year, before the final results of the 11th All-Ukrainian Creative Works Competition ‘Literary Universe’ were announced, all submitted works were checked for the use of artificial intelligence (https://www.plag.com.ua/).
Unfortunately, many contestants used an ‘assistant’ in their creative works – more than 60% of the text, and in some cases 92-95% was written with the help of AI.
This situation put the contestants at a disadvantage and gave the jury members a lot of extra work in terms of evaluating the quality of the creative works and additional time to check them.
Therefore, the jury members and the organizing committee of the Competition decided that in the next All-Ukrainian Creative Works Competition ‘Literary Universe’, texts written with the help of artificial intelligence will be considered plagiarism and will not be considered at all.
As for the 2025-2026 Competition, most of the participants' works corresponded to the theme of the Competition, were interesting and relevant in content, and contained original ideas, author's photos and images.
Scores were also lowered for incomplete disclosure of the theme, non-compliance with the conditions of presentation and grammatical errors.
By decision of the jury (Minutes No. 3 of 13 February 2026), the winners of the Competition were determined and the following participants were awarded diplomas of I-III degrees of the XI All-Ukrainian Competition of Creative Works ‘Literary Universe’:
